Home Shopping Infomercials Does Shamwow Work

Does the Shamwow really work?

You've seen those Shamwow commercials where the guy is taking some cloth and absorbing a massive amount of liquid with it. (If you haven't just go to their website and watch the video.)

Seems almost too good to be true. I also was wondering the same thing as everyone else, does it work like advertised? Well here is my Shamwow review:

Do not buy the Shamwow!

Is that clear enough?

Just to point out something about the video to give an example, did you notice the people holding their Shamwow's in their hand and saying how great it is? They have not even used the product yet, it is still wrapped up in the packaging! You can plainly see it. All they did was watch a real demonstration similar to the video and then bought the product.

I've watched a live demonstration, and let me tell you that it is real salesmanship. Be assured that the amount of water is measured to the drop. They know exactly how much the product can absorb. It doesn't quite work like that in real life.

In a bit more detail the problems with this product are:

1) exagerated claims - it works, but not quite as well as what you see on the shamwow infomercial

2) ordering runaround - when you call to order you get an automated machine. It is not straightforward and it will try to sell you more than you want plus it tries to sign you up for lots of other 'deals.

3) shipping cost - the shipping cost is very high, especially for a product that is very light.

4) Lastly, why buy something through an infomercial when you can buy the same exact thing for cheaper at a local store?

But don't just take my word for it, here are links to other sites with people that say the same thing:

Complaintsboard.com

Infomercialratings.com

Measuredup.com

There are other products on the market that are practically exactly the same thing. They are called microfiber cloths.

My advice is to go to the automotive section of stores like Walmart, Sears, Canadian Tire, etc. and buy one there. You will not have to pay any shipping, and you know exactly what you are buying.

I would love to hear your comments regarding this issue.
